The top match in this weekend’s Six Nations is potentially the title decider between Wales and England. Wales could not come into this match in better form and are on their best run of victories in over half a century

Wales will have the strong home support behind them this weekend to enhance their chances of winning. England will be eager to face Wales having dominated France last time out. For the French, they will look to make home advantage count as they host Scotland, while in Italy, Ireland will hope to score plenty of tries and secure a bonus point to move up the table. We have some top tips for this crucial weekend of matches.

Wales v England – Saturday 23rd February – Kick-Off 4.45pm GMT

Wales 7/4 (2.40) William Hill

Draw 25/1 (26.0) Ladbrokes

England 11/20 (1.57) Bet365

Preview and Top Tip

This match has the makings of a classic. Wales will need the loud support of their fans to maintain their excellent run of form. Although unconvincing in both matches so far in the Six Nations, Wales are now underdogs, which is what they like the most. They had to dig deep to come back from 16-0 down at half time in France to win 24-19, and then only beat minnows Italy 26-15. Wales will point to the fact they defeated both Australia and South Africa at home in the Autumn Internationals of 2018 to guide them to victory on Saturday. England come into this crucial Six Nations match in red-hot form as they performed superbly to beat Ireland 32-20 and then followed up with a 44-8 hammering of France. Defensively England have looked impressive and going forward winger Jonny May has been outstanding. This match won’t be high scoring, and we feel England’s good recent form will hand them a narrow win.

Best Bet: England to beat Wales between 1-10 points 23/10 (3.30) Betfair

France v Scotland – Saturday 23rd February – Kick-off 2.15pm GMT

France 4/9 (1.44) William Hill

Draw 28/1 (29.0) BoyleSports

Scotland 2/1 (3.0) Bet365

Preview and Top Tip

In their opening match France started superbly against Wales leading 16-0 at half time. What happened next wasn’t part of the script. They suffered a second half comeback by a resilient Wales team who fought all the way to the end to claim victory. In the first half of that match France were very good. Then they performed really poor against England. I feel that the two-week break will help them regroup and they can make home advantage count and defeat Scotland. France do have a young team and once they get ahead, they will not make the same mistake as in the opening match. For Scotland, they are not good travellers away from Murrayfield. Although beating Italy 33-20 in the opening match, they suffered defeat to Ireland at home 13-22 and picked up a few key injuries, which will hamper their chances this weekend. We fancy France to win this weekend, but the Scots can keep it close.

Best Bet: France to beat Scotland between 1-12 points 15/8 (2.88) Betfair

Italy v Ireland – Sunday 24th February – Kick-off 2.15pm GMT

Italy 33/1 (34.0) Ladbrokes

Draw 100/1 (101.0) Coral

Ireland 1/33 (1.03) William Hill

Preview and Top Tip

After a tough battle against Scotland where Ireland recorded their first win of this year’s Six Nations, they travel to Italy and will be eager to score plenty of tries to claim a bonus point as they look to close the gap at the top of the table. Ireland will win this match comfortably so it’s looking at whether to play the handicap or looking at a winning margin to make profit from this match. Looking at Italy’s recent home form, they lost 15-26 to Wales in their last match and lost 7-26 to Australia in the autumn internationals of 2018. Ireland travel well and they beat Scotland 22-13 in their last match, and won 24-15 at Twickenham against England in last year’s Six Nations. After analysing the above stats, the tip we’re putting up is Italy +30 on the handicap spread as we fancy them to not get beaten by 30 points or more.

Best Bet: Back Italy on handicap spread +30 Points 1/1 (2.0) BetWay
