What are the hot tips and best bets for the contest in the T20 tournament?

St Lucia Zouks vs St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

Tuesday 24 September 2019, Darren Sammy Stadium

The St Lucia Zouks managed one of their most impressive results of the entire tournament last time out against the powerful Trinbago Knight Riders. It was a washout. A handy one point snaffled and probable defeat avoided.

We are being facetious of course but the Zouks are beggars who cannot be choos-ers. They had won only once in their previous five so they should be grateful for small mercies.

In a tournament which has been dominated by runaway leaders Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago, the holders, the Zouks, incredibly, could still qualify for the play-offs. That statement says a lot about the quality we have seen so far.

They remain the most curious of the franchises, though, because they have been beset by problems. The ownership ditched before a ball was bowled and they have had to rebuild their squad with Sri Lanka calling back players. Lasith Ma-linga, Thisara Perera and Niroshan Dickwella were all supposed to be involved.

So it is worth analysing where they stand now, forgetting the results for a mo-ment, because they’re a different team.

Against Trinbago they actually were making a decent fist of things at 99 for four in the 13th over. Colin Ingram, drafted in as a replacement for Perera, had under-lined his quality with an unbeaten 53. The Zouks had also shuffled their order sensibly.

John Campbell and Andre Fletcher were the openers, both specialists, with In-gram at No 3. Then came muscle men Colin de Grandhomme and Rahkeem Corn-wall. That’s a solid top four.

But they are a top and tail team. That means they are good up front with bat and ball and soft as August ice cream in the middle. Darren Sammy, despite having a stadium named after him, is not a No 5 at this level any more. And there’s nothing after him with the bat. Kesrick Williams and Fawad Ahmed are eye-catching with the ball. But…there’s nothing after that.

That’s why we’re surprised the bookies have been fooled. Surely no-one in their right mind would bet the Zouks at 2.0 (Evens)? The Patriots, then, who have notched some good wins and should comfortably make the last four, are value at 1.91 (10/11) with William Hill.

Best Bet: Back Patriots 1.91 William Hill
