UFC 235 is just around the corner, let’s take a look at this week’s underdogs and the odds available.

The Dogs Odds

Diego Sanchez (3.45 –49/20 @ Unibet) vs Micky Gall (1.36 – 49/50 @ Bet365)

Preposterous! How on earth can a fighter with 7 professional fights be priced as such a huge favourite against such a well-seasoned veteran in Diego ‘The Nightmare’ Sanchez?

Ok, so Micky has had 6 wins all via submission but take a look at his competition. Once upon a time the UFC needed a suitable opponent for CM Punk, they clearly underestimated the difference in a trained fighter with years’ experience vs a former WWE wrestler with minimum experience and lucky for Micky Gall he was granted the easiest debut in the UFC that anybody could ask for.

Although very green, Micky does have some serious BJJ skills given his young and short career thus far but with no victories against high level opponents I’m not sure why the UFC enjoy throwing their fresh new talent in the deep end so soon into their UFC journeys. Micky did ask for the fight, so I guess they just gave him what he asked for.

Sage Northcutt was a great matchup for Micky and those are the types of fights he should probably continue trying to rack up his record wins against because as soon as Micky faced an opponent who could deal with his offense he suffered his first defeat against Randy Brown who had the ground game and take down defence to avoid Micky Galls one dimensional approach to fights.

Don’t get me wrong, I would price Micky as a slight favourite just based on age, longevity and Diegos questionable chin… but with Micky racking up zero KO’s in his career do the bookies seriously think he’s going to beat somebody with Diegos experience that easily? The lines are now giving Micky a higher priced number than he was against CM Punk which is just ridiculous.

At this price I have to go with Diego here just based on the unanswered questions that still remain from Micky Galls skill-set, but by all means… this is not a ‘throw your mortgage on it’ type of bet. The Jackson-Wink camp are in full effect this Saturday with multiple fighters on the card, they’ve been hard at work and I expect this to show in Diegos determination.

(Diego Sanchez vs Micky Gall)

Marlon Vera (1.45 – 9/20 @ Unibet) vs Frankie Saenz (2.80 – 9/5 @ Bet365)

Another fight where I lean towards the dog due to the mispriced odds. Both fighters coming off win streaks looking to extend their record in the bantamweight division I don’t see any reason why this fight shouldn’t be much closer to a pick em.

Marlon is known for his struggle in ability to get comfortable early in his fights. I do think Marlon is the more seasoned striker but I can see Frankie making this a gritty fight not giving Marlon much space to flaunt his skill-set. Frankie does need to be careful wrestling with Marlon because his jujitsu is definitely up to scratch.

On the feet Marlon will win this fight, If Frankie can figure out a comfy game plan using his wrestling pedigree, I think it’s possible he can secure a decision victory or a ground and pound stoppage. I haven’t personally bet this myself but I’ll definitely be watching this line more closely coming up to fight day.

(Marlon Vera vs Frankie Saenz)

Not many underdogs I fancy this week, I think most of the lines are fairly priced and we might be in for a night of favourites cashing.

If you would like to check up on any underdogs not mentioned in this article then please visit our Fighting page.

For some of the best odds available at UFC235 visit Unibet.
