It has been a good four weeks as we head into UFC Fight Night 148 on 4-0 Punching Parlay win streak, let’s take another stab this week and attempt continue on growing the pot.

John Makdessi vs Jesus Pinedo

I really do struggle to find a path to victory for Jesus Pinedo in this fight. The savvy veteran John Makdessi will certainly out strike John on the feet, the strikes he holds in his tool belt will for sure cause Jesus some problems in the octagon he hasn’t experienced in his 1 fight UFC stunt thus far. Jesus best plan might be to try and take this fight to the floor but with an ultra-impressive takedown defence I can’t see this method working out very well for the new blood Pinedo.

John Makdessi is no stranger to the bright lights of the UFC and it seems like he may be having a slight career resurgence with two back to back wins looking better than ever in those fights. His kick boxing background combined with one of the best take down defences in the UFC will be more than enough for Makdessi to win a convincing decision here.

With that said I think it’s obvious that the first part of this week’s punching parlay will be John Makdessi to defeat Jesus Pinedo.

John Makdessi at 1.33 – 1/3 with William Hill

Chris Gutierrez vs. Ryan MacDonald

With a 10 fight win streak it was easy to see why the book makers opened up Ryan MacDonald as the favourite in this fight, but as the odds now suggest it’s easy to overlook an opponent like Chris Gutierrez who isn’t a high profile UFC fighter but if we take a closer look at Ryan he has faced nobody even close to the level of Gutierrez.

Plain and simple Ryan MacDonald may be way too green to be starting his UFC venture. Taking this fight on short notice on top of making his UFC debut I think will be a losing start for him. Gutierrez possesses experience against high level opposition whereas Ryan has really faced nobody who would even last a round in the UFC. The step up in competition will make a significant impact in my opinion and I’m fully aware this is the fight game and anybody can take a loss but I see this one being lob sided in Gutierrez favour from the get go.

I’m sure over time Ryan can take this loss and improve but right now his total lack of head movement might even cost him a knockout loss. He has been wobbled in previous fights against much weaker strikers than Gutierrez which should ring alarm bells for any bettor coming into this fight.

The bottom line is, Ryan just doesn’t have the same experience and will more than likely get outclassed in every aspect. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a first round TKO or KO in this spot and to finish of this week’s edition of the ‘Punching Parlay’ we’ll add Chris Gutierrez to win alongside John Makdessi to make it a double.

Chris Gutierrez at 1.53 – 8/15 with William Hill will be the final addition to this week’s parlay/accumulator.

Punching Parlay

John Makdessi at 1.33 – 1/3 with William Hill

Chris Gutierrez at 1.53 – 8/15 with William Hill

Odds: 2.04 – 1.04/1 with William Hill

Stake: £100 / 1u

Returns: £204.44

Profit: £104.44

Current Parlay Bank: £501.96

The Weekly Punching Parlay Record: 4-0 past four events

When is UFC Fight Night 148? Saturday 23rd March, 2019 - 11:30pm start (GMT)

Where is UFC Fight Night 148? Bridgestone Arena Nashville, USA

What channel is UFC Fight Night 148 on? UFC Fight Pass & BT Sport

For viewers in the United States ESPN+

Related articles:

‘The Dogs and Their Odds’ UFC Fight Night 148: Pettis vs Thompson
