What are the hot tips and best bets for the contest in the T20 tournament?

Trinbago Knight Riders v Guyana Amazon Warriors

Tuesday 1 October 2019, Kensington Oval

We’ve waited a long time for this match up. It is a curious, and frustrating, quirk of this year’s Caribbean Premier League that the holders, Trinbago, and the best team in the tournament are yet to meet in the group section.

The week before the final they play each other twice. They could well clash in the showpiece. It seems bizarre that the group meetings could not have been spread out.

Fortunes of these two are differing. Guyana have a 100 per cent record for seven games and it is hard to find a weakness. Trinbago have the worst bowling attack in the tournament apart from JT, have lost four matches this season (two of their last three) and have a lot of work to do if they’re to continue a sequence which has seen them win three of the last four titles.

Given the form of the two, it is slightly surprising to see Guyana available at 1.91 (10/11) with William Hill, who can’t split the pair. Most layers can and make the Amazon Warriors rightful favourites. Not by much, though. TKR are 2.05 (21/20) with Unibet.

Other bets which catch the eye is going over 16.5 sixes with William Hill at 1.83 (5/6). We’re often loathe to go over on this market because it’s artificially high because of punter psychology but the make-ups this term read: 16-18-17. And both outfits have been striking well. Trinbago average 9.8 per game and Guyana 8.4.

There’s also the opportunity for a very solid-looking top-bat bet in the shape of Kieron Pollard, who is a 6.5 (11/2) chance with Bet365 and William Hill to score most runs for Trinbago. Yes, he has a lot to beat with Lendl Simmons and Colin Munro threatening but the game situation could well require a Pollard special.

We’re also keen on another big number – the 8.0 (7/1) that Betfair and Paddy Power both offer about hitter Nic Pooran coming good. Pooran’s had a quiet tournament but, like Pollard, may be required here for something special from the middle order. Half stakes both please.

Best Bet

Back Kieron Pollard top Trinbago bat 6.5 Bet365
