An early start time proves to be successful yet again as we witness another main event knock out.

Post-Fight Analysis / Recap

Edson Barboza vs. Justin Gaethje

Punter’s get caught in the trap for the third week running as Lightweight contender Justin Gaethje knock’s out the bookies favourite, making it a three week run streak that the underdog has cashed in UFC main events. Justin opened up as a 2.30 underdog, giving those that backed him a well deserving profit after the vicious knockout inside round one. It was always going to be interesting to see how Barboza could handle the pressure everybody knew Justin was going to put on him, now we know… not very well. When exiting from the clinch Barboza left his guard down, Justin capitalized with a right hook and put Barboza in the land of Nod.

When Justin Gaethje fights, he brings certain awe with him inside the octagon. UFC fans new and old all know what to expect when we see Justin take a walk to the cage and boy he lived up to those expectations again.

Justin and Edson met in the middle and traded leg kicks like many predicted, it’s a good job this fight didn’t see a second round because they both would have hobbled of their chairs. Justin seemed to land his punches in accordance with the leg kicks where Edson lacked in that department. Before we knew it, lights out for Barboza as Justin landed halfway through the first round. A backflip from the octagon cage later, we’re listening to Justin talk about next for him.

We first saw Justin as a wild swinger taking way too much damage in his early UFC fights. As he finished last night on a two-fight win streak, Justin has notably taken a lot less damage in these fights and has had a much more methodical approach to fights.

Time and time again Justin Gaethje provides UFC fight fans with blood and violence, now that he has back to back wins against high-level competition his name will be thrown into the title picture. With Max vs Dustin just around the corner, I’ll be eagerly waiting to see what the UFC decide to do with Justin Gaethje next.

Justin Gaethje defeats Edson Barboza via KO (Round One)

Michelle Waterson vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz

The ‘Karate Hottie’ outwits the former polish title contender and secures herself a unanimous decision on the judge’s scorecards. Both fighter’s started of trading leg kicks equally, attempting the clinch early Waterson’s game plan became clear and it was apparent she wanted this fight on the floor. Karolina did a good job of denying the takedown from the clinch, both girls continued to strike with Waterson keeping the fight on the outside with leg kicks. Eventually, she was able to get the takedown inside the clinch and from there Karolina’s confidence seemed to decline and Waterson was close to ending the fight via armbar towards the end of the second round. Karolina knew she was losing coming into the third round and that shown with her aggressive approach, too little too late for Karolina as Michelle threw her kicks to keep Karolina at bay in the final round.

Another week and another fighter mentioned in my ‘Dogs and Their Odds’ article cashes for everybody following the UFC articles on Odds Market. It just goes to show that backing the heavy favourite is not a favourable method in the world of mixed martial arts, accompanied by a three-week streak of underdogs getting the knockout in the main event I think it’s safe to say finding value in the underdog can pay off in a great way.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

30-27
30-27
30-27

Great performance Michelle Waterson 👏

Title shot incoming?! 🤔#UFCPhiladelphia pic.twitter.com/i5UHKRH1az
— UFC on BT Sport (@btsportufc) March 31, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

Great odd's for Michelle Waterson at 2.30 – 13/10 with William Hill, which was a highlight fight mentioned in this weeks ‘Dogs and Their Odds’ article.

Michelle Waterson Def.
