Here we go! It’s Week 1 of the Premier League Darts and we had the unfortunate news a few days ago that 2nd favourite Gary Anderson had to pull out due to a back injury.

This has had an effect on the Outright Winner market as Michael van Gerwen is now odds on at 19/29 (1.66) at 188bet. The price is fair given Van Gerwen won last year’s tournament and in top form after winning the World Championships. In Premier League week 1, we will cover three of this week’s matches with a solid tip on each one.

Premier League Darts Week 1

James Wade 6/5 (2.2) BetWay

Draw 7/2 (4.5) William Hill

Raymond van Barneveld 9/5 (2.8) SportPesa

Preview and Top Tip

We have a strong view on the opening match up in the Premier League for Week 1. Raymond van Barneveld struggled in the World Darts Championships and was seriously considering retirement. He has dropped heavily down the rankings and it’s only because of his status as a darts legend that he has a place in this seasons Premier League. James Wade in my eyes should be odds on here as he is performing at a good level and regularly throwing good darts. Expect James Wade to start well and win here.

Best Bet:

James Wade to beat Raymond van Barneveld @ 6/4 (2.2) BetWay

Gerwyn Price 9/5 (2.8) Unibet

Draw 7/2 (4.5) Betfair

Daryl Gurney 11/8 (2.38) William Hill

Preview and Top Tip

Daryl Gurney is a likeable player who has a big future. He is playing well and can follow up his 5th position in last year’s Premier League and start with a win over Gerwyn Price who is making enemies with the Darts crowd due to his antics during a few tournaments last year. Gerwyn Price finished bottom in last year’s Premier League and may struggle to get off to a good start here with the crowd in favour of Daryl Gurney. I believe Daryl Gurney will be eager for a win and start this season’s tournament well and I expect him to deliver.

Best Bet

Daryl Gurney to beat Gerwyn Price 11/8 (2.38) William Hill

Peter Wright 13/8 (2.63) Betfred

Draw 7/2 (4.5) Betfair

Rob Cross 7/5 (2.4) BetWay

Preview and Top Tip

Peter Wright hasn’t been playing well for a while now and went out early in the World Darts Championships which caused a big shock. He is a big personality and has not been consistent with his darts in big competitions. The Premier League will come as a relief with the short form nature of the matches each week. I believe Rob Cross can take advantage of this and take a win in the opening week. In last year’s Premier League Rob Cross finished 4th and made it through to Finals night at O2 Arena in London which was a great experience for him. For Peter Wright it was a 7th position in last year’s Premier League and one, which was disappointing, given in 2017 he was runner up.

Best Bet

Rob Cross to beat Peter Wright 7/5 (2.4) BetWay
