Join our darts expert Russ Yershon for his betting analysis of the World Cup of Darts from June 6-9 at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

The World Cup of darts is in its 9th year and England and Holland have won the title on 4 occasions each. Not surprisingly, both are at the head of the market with both countries best price of 3/1 (4.0) to win the trophy for a record 5th time.

Rob Cross and Michael Smith will represent England whereas Holland will have world number 1 and recent Premier League of darts champion Michael van Gerwen accompanied by Jermaine Wattimena.

These counties are 1 and 4 seeds in the draw and are due to meet in the semi-finals. The key question is can Michael van Gerwen carry Holland to victory and we believe this will be a tall order as a team effort is needed and England have two high quality players in Cross and Smith which should overcome the Dutch.

Outright Winner:

Rob Cross and Michael Smith join forces for the first time and combined they have the highest joint ranking of all players in the tournament. We believe this will play a key factor in the later stages of the tournament. After defeat to Michael van Gerwen in the Premier League of darts final last week, Cross will look for revenge as he lands the World Cup of darts this weekend.

Both Cross and Smith are high scorers and have a good check out percentage so together they should have too much for the other countries in the quest to land the title.

Best Bet:

England to win the world cup of darts 3/1 (4.0) Ladbrokes / Betfair

Alternative Markets

After missing the Premier League of darts, Gary Anderson returns to action to partner with Peter Wright and they are my strong fancies to make it out of the bottom half of the draw.

Scotland finished runners up last year and as 2nd seeds, they can give England a really tough battle to see who will be crowned World Cup winners on Sunday night.

If Anderson is on top form that does not bode well for Scotland’s opponents. In addition, if Peter Wright can show good form then Scotland have a great chance.

The major danger we see in the way of Scotland reaching the final will be Wales, led by Gerwyn Price who has Jonny Clayton as his partner.

Also in the bottom half of the draw are Belgium who have Kim Hybrechts and Dimitri Van den Burgh. On their day both of these players have the capacity to perform really well and are the ones who could provide a shock.

Best Bet:

Scotland to reach the final 15/8 (2.87) Betfair

Name The Finalists Market: England / Scotland 13/2 (7.5) Betfair
