King and Labanauskas to progress as Henderson makes it tricky for price.

World Darts Championships

13th December 2019 – 1st January 2020

World Darts Championships – 3rd round match

Simon Whitlock v Mervyn King

27th December

Simon Whitlock had a conformable 3-0 in sets win in his 2nd round match and his experience playing at the world darts championship definitely had an advantage as he finished his check outs well. Whitlock is a very experienced veteran of darts and he will believe he can progress further in the tournament as he faces King.

King had to dig deep in his 2nd round match as he beat Teehan 3-2 in sets. King is ranked 19th in the world but his performance didn’t live up to the expectation King would have liked.

The odds on this match suggest there is little between these players and our pick for this is Mervyn King. His higher ranking is a factor here and his performances in the 2nd half of the year suggest he will be more consistent over the longer number of sets

Top Tip: 2.0 (Evens) Mervyn King to beat Simon Whitlock with William Hill

World Darts Championships – 3rd round match

Gerwyn Price v John Henderson

27th December

Gerwyn Price was really poor in his match in the 2nd round against O’Connor and extremely lucky to progress to the 3rd round. Price couldn’t repeat his performances of late and his averages were low compared to his expectation and his check outs as well were not as good as they could have been. Being in the audience for this match, Price looked uncomfortable as he looked to get back to the way he was playing that saw him win the Grand Slam of darts.

Should Price continue to not deliver the averages he knows he can do then Henderson could spring a surprise in this match.

I believe that Price will come through this, however Henderson can give Price another scare and taking Henderson +2.5legs on the handicap market in this match. Henderson won 3-0 in his 2nd round match and can perform at a good enough level to compete well and cover the handicap.

Top Tip: 2.0 (Evens) John Henderson (+2.5legs) to beat Gerwyn Price with Coral

World Darts Championships – 4th round match

Michael van Gerwen v Stephen Bunting

27th December 2019

Michael van Gerwen is playing superbly well and is hot favourite to win back to back world darts championships. After a nervy 2nd round match, van Gerwen was superb in his 3rd round match and now is looking at his best as he comes into the business end of the tournament.

He should have little problems in seeing off Bunting and will look to put on a top show with his high scoring and check outs to put fear across the rest of the players.

The pick in this one is the match treble of van Gerwen to win, hit the most 180s and have the highest check out. Van Gerwen his 10 x 180s against Ricky Evans and if he replicates this victory, this match may not last long

Top Tip: Michael van Gerwen to win the match, hit the most 180s and have the highest checkout at 2.38 (11/8) with Ladbrokes
