It’s hard to see either winning in straight sets so look to the overs!

Rafael Nadal (3) vs Roger Federer (2)

Friday, July 12, London

Roger Federer continued his quest for a record-extending 21st Grand Slam title at the All England Club on Wednesday with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 win over No.8 seed Kei Nishikori in two hours and 36 minutes. The 37-year-old struggled to find his range early on in the match, but never looked in danger after losing the opening set. Federer once again made history on Wednesday by becoming the first player ever to earn 100 victories at a Grand Slam tournament.

Federer will next take on No.3 seed Rafael Nadal in their first official meeting at Wimbledon since the 2008 final. The 18-time Grand Slam champion extended his winning streak to 17 matches on Wednesday with a 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 win over Sam Querrey in the quarter-finals at No.1 Court. Querrey had been broken only once in 72 games at the All England Club, but Nadal proved once more why he’s one of the greatest returners in tennis history. The 33-year-old Spaniard broke serve six times and won 44.57% of the points played on Sam’s serve to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals for the seventh time in his career.

These two players will meet for the 40th time on Friday with a place in the Wimbledon final at stake. Nadal leads 24-15 in their head-to-head and also won their most recent encounter in Roland Garros last month.

Looking now at the odds for this contest, the bookmakers are expecting a very close encounter. Nadal is the slight favourite at 1.75 (3/4) with Betfair while Betway offers 2.20 (6/5) for Federer to win this match. Both players have been in top form this fortnight and it’s hard to see any of them winning in straight sets, which makes the Over 3.5 sets at 1.47 (47/100) with Unibet a very interesting line for an accumulator. On the other hand, the Over 40.5 games at 1.86 (43/50) with Pinnacle is also a good approach in a match between two of the best players in tennis history.

Tips:

Over 3.5 sets at 1.47 (47/00) with Unibet

Over 40.5 games at 1.86 (43/50) with Pinnacle
