Week one at Wimbledon separates the wheat from the chaff and only top grass court players remain standing by the second Monday. Read on for our preview of the best bets of the day.

Gael Monfils v Kevin Anderson

Monfils is the underdog for his round of 16 clash against eighth seed Anderson, even though he has a 100% record against the South African. They have met five times previously, and Monfils has won the lot. None were on grass, but the Frenchman has beaten Anderson three times on hard courts and twice on clay, with the most recent victory coming at the 2016 Shanghai Masters. Since then Anderson has climbed up the world rankings on the back of some impressive performances, but Monfils could still have a psychological advantage heading into this match. Most of the betting action is going on Monfils, but he remains the 11/8 outsider with Bet365 and that looks like a tempting price. He got the better of a big server, Sam Querrey, in the last round and could pull off a similar feat against Anderson.

Roger Federer v Adrian Mannarino

Federer is in magnificent form at this tournament and he is now the odds-on favourite to lift the famous trophy for a ninth time. He is yet to drop a set and he has covered the games handicap line in all three matches so far. He beat Dusan Lajovic by 10 games, Lukas Lako by nine games and Jan-Lenard Struff by nine games, so you would have made a tidy profit if you had backed him each time. The line has been set at Federer -8.5 games for this match against 22nd seed Mannarino. That is a tougher challenge, as the Frenchman is in decent form. But Mannarino had to toil through a five-set thriller in the heat against Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the last round, so fatigue could be an issue. Federer looks fresh and focused after skipping the clay court season, and he has barely broken a sweat in this competition so far. Federer -8.5 games therefore looks tempting at 4/5 with Bet365 and 13/15 with Marathon Bet.

John Isner v Stefanos Tsitsipas

Isner is relishing the heat at Wimbledon as the quick surface suits his huge serving game perfectly. He hit an incredible 64 aces against Rubens Bemelmans in the second round, a five-set slog, before firing another 28 to beat Radu Albot of Moldova in straight sets last time out. Now he is up against the exciting Greek teenager Tsitsipas, who is the 31st seed for this tournament despite his tender age. It will be a fascinating battle between youth and experience, but big match experience and tactical nous could edge it in 33-year-old Isner’s favour. Isner -2.5 games looks interesting in the handicap line at 17/20 with William Hill.

Karolina Pliskova v Kiki Bertens

The top seeds continue to tumble out of the women’s Wimbledon tournament and world number eight Pliskova looks vulnerable in her last 16 clash. Only Pliskova and Simona Halep are left standing out of the top 10 seeds, showing just how thrillingly unpredictable the women’s side of the tournament is. Bertens produced a gutsy

display to beat Venus Williams 8-6 in the deciding set of their third round match and she can now approach the rest of the tournament full of confidence. Pliskova has played well without ever looking totally convincing. Bertens looks attractively priced at 7/4 with Bet365. Another tantalising option is Bertens +1.5 sets in the handicap betting at 5/7 with Marathon Bet.
